Festival Opening Parade

Top of the Town to the Amphitheatre

Basingstoke Festival

Weekend One

Date: Friday 21 June
Time: 5.30pm
Location: Top of the Town to the Amphitheatre

Join the parade at Market Place as it moves up Church Street through the Top of the Town making its way down to the Amphitheatre at Festival Place

This year’s opening parade is produced by local carnival and street artist Sarah Thomas Lane. Join Sarah and a host of colourful performers as local community organisations, charities, schools and colleges join forces to take you back in time to the Basingstoke of the past.

Once the parade arrives at the amphitheatre, join MotionHouse for a lively and joyous, exhilarating, and exciting performance of HENGE. Using dynamic Parkour and rhythmic beats, be thrilled as you watch a set of gigantic neolithic stones transform before your eyes to create new structures and shapes for the performers to play on and explore.

Following MotionHouse, catch Covent Garden’s favourite street performers, Fit Up Productions with their new show Risky Business. Jugglers from other sides of the world will come together to create a circus show full of silly banter and spectacular tricks.

A performance of HENGE. One performer jumps from a stack of grey stones into the arms of two other performers.
