Fluid Motion Theatre Company presents All in the Mind, an annual arts festival in Basingstoke aimed at challenging preconceived ideas about mental health. The festival will bring together professional artists, young people and the wider community to celebrate artistic achievement and raise awareness of mental health issues. Now in its second year, the festival covers everything form theatre, poetry, film, dance, music and visual arts.

Theatre Tent:

11am: JOHN HOGGETT - Sectioned

A play about a gay man who is detained under the mental health act.

11.40am: SOPHIE FENELLA - Everything is going to be fine

Autobiographical performance about having a nervous breakdown in an office, blending spoken word poetry with clowning, sound art and movement.

12.20pm: HIPPANA THEATRE - The Overlook

International physical theatre company Hippana adapt Stanley Kubrick's The Shining in an immersive 3D sound environment.

1pm: RESONANCE YOUTH DANCE COMPANY

Dance piece exploring Bi-polar as a condition and comments on domestic violence.

1.20pm: CHARLOTTE MAXWELL - Hello My Name is Chantelle and I Have an Anxiety Disorder

One woman show exploring the stereotypes attached to anxiety disorders and the lack of understanding that high functioning individuals are often faced with.

2pm: CHRIS SAV - Chris and the Celeriac

Veg based boy band Chris and the Celeriac bring this family friendly show that addresses mental health in an unconventional and humorous way.

2.30pm: VICKY HANCOCK - Jeu Jeu la Foille's Frontal Lobotomy

Bold, witty, and surreal, burlesque maverick Jeu Jeu la Foille fuses original beat poetry with the tormented lullabies of Tom Waits; punctuated with scientific accounts of perhaps the biggest error of judgment in medical history – the transorbital lobotomy.

3.30pm: VERONICA DEWAN - Bloodsworth

Set in the 1990s on a psychiatric ward, Bloodsworth is a play in development which explores clashing interpretations of reality between staff and a patient of mixed heritage.

11am: MAGGIE SAWKINS AND CHRIS BENNETT - Anthology of Poems - (HCT Dementia Project)

Maggie Sawkins and Chris Bennett read from their recently published anthology of poems written in collaboration with people with dementia and with the support of Hampshire Cultural Trust.

11.40am: DAVE JURGENS

Professional guitarist Dave Jurgens plays a series of original and acoustic covers.

12noon: STEVE LAWES AND ANDREW GORDON - Get it Out of the Mind

Politician Andrew Gordon tells one challenging experience he had with his own mental health, while visual artist Steve Lawes speed-paints a visual depiction of Andrew’s speech on a large canvas.

12.20pm: LILIANE JACKSON

Basingstoke based singer Lillianne who has overcome her own anxiety, performs a selection of pop songs.

12.40pm: KRISTIANNE DRAKE

International photographer and artist Kristianne Drake will be performing some of her latest spoken word poetry on a mixture of themes.

1pm: JOANNE COX - Welcome to My World

 Interactive electric cello performance, using live looping to build an intimate, flowing and sensuous piece of music that positively highlights Borderline Personality Disorder.

1.20pm: MAGGIE SAWKINS - The Worry of Words

‘The Worry of Words’ is a 30-minute illustrated talk based on personal and professional involvement with people in addiction and dual diagnosis by award winning poet Maggie Sawkins.

2pm: DAVE JURGENS

Solo dance piece that explores some of the physical and psychological symptoms experienced because of anxiety; and the struggles a person dealing with anxiety can face.

11.50am: ELLIE JOHNSTONE - Looking at you Through the Glass

This solo dance piece explores delusions through the eyes of a girl who cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is imagined.

12.10pm AMBITUS THEATRE - Rinse, Repeat

Using one dancer who has been disabled in a car accident and one actor who has battled OCD for many years, this piece aims to humorously, sensitively, as well as boldly challenge what it is to suffer with intrusive thoughts.

All day: DEBORAH ALMA - The Emergency Poet

The world’s first and only mobile poetic first aid service. A mix of the serious, the therapeutic and the theatrical, the Emergency Poet offers consultations inside her 1970's ambulance and prescribes poems as cures.
